"Complex
Issues, Clear Solutions." Management Workshop
This award-winning, full-day workshop is a practical
and interactive multimedia experience delivered only by Mental
Health Works Certified Trainers.
The "Complex Issues. Clear Solutions." Management
Workshop provides clear strategies and practical tools for
managers.
This workshop enables managers to
- Discuss mental health issues with employees
- Deal effectively with performance issues
- Avoid discrimination and human rights violations
- Develop accommodation strategies that work
Video clips illustrate the challenges faced by managers and
provide common discussion points. Participant's Guide is an
invaluable reference tool for clarifying procedures and developing
accommodations that work.

Eight
Presentations and Workshops:
1. Awareness of Workplace Mental
Health
This 1- to 3-hour presentation is suitable for employees
and general audiences.
- Reduces discomfort and/or fear when faced with a co-worker
who is ill
- Includes video clips of real people who live with mental
illness describing their symptoms and the effects of mental
illness on the workplace
- Helps create a workplace culture that supports successful
accommodation strategies
Cost is $800 plus expenses for any size audience.
2. Issues and Solutions
This 1½ - 2 hour presentation provides practical
strategies for business owners and managers on how to identify and
address mental health issues, including emotional distress and
burnout, at work. We will share stories about
challenging workplace cases that were handled successfully,
and as a result change the way we think about mental health
issues.
Cost is $1,500 plus expenses for any size audience.
3. Assisting Workers with Mental
Health Issues
This 3-hour workshop is intended for union representatives
and stewards. If union members rely on you as an advocate
and confidante in times of need, this workshop can help reduce
discomfort or uncertainty in fulfilling this very important
role.
Cost is $1,500 for any size audience.
4. Human Resources: Return-to-Work
Strategies
This 3- to 4-hour presentation is intended for human resource
personnel. We use case studies to encourage participants in
considering approaches to the most difficult situations including
behavioural issues, fear of violence, perception of "faking
it" and hostility of co-workers or supervisors.
Cost is $1,500 plus expenses for audiences of 50 or fewer.
5. Workplace Influence
This 1- to 2-hour presentation is intended for all employees.
Help employees take control of their responses at work and
learn to help co-workers who seem to be "stressed out."
Cost is $1,000 plus expenses for any size audience.
6. Affecting Workplace Mental Health
This 3-hour workshop is intended for those who have the power
to influence or change workplace processes and wish to do
so in a way that will positively affect the mental health
of workers.
Cost is $1,500 plus expenses for audiences of 50 or fewer.
7. Occupational Health Strategies:
Return-to-Work after Mental Illness
This 3- to 4-hour workshop is intended for occupational health
professionals. We address working with unclear physician notes,
cynical supervisors, management who think you should "fix"
employees and employees who do not seem able to access effective
treatment.
Cost is $1,500 for audiences of 50 or fewer.
8. Managing Return-to-Work
This 3- to 4-hour workshop is intended for managers/supervisors
who already have a good working knowledge of mental health
and communication skills. It looks at juggling the competing
interests of the returning employee, co-workers, organizational
demands and time management, especially when the return-to-work
involves a history of workplace conflict, performance issues
or behavioural problems.
Cost is $200 per participant plus expenses with a minimum
