1. ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
ASIST is a two-day intensive, interactive
and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers
recognize risk and learn how to intervene to prevent the immediate
risk of suicide.
Suitable for all persons in positions of trust: mental health
professionals, nurses, physicians, teachers, counselors, youth
workers, police and correctional staff, school support staff,
clergy, and community volunteers.
Includes a 110-page Suicide Intervention Handbook. Prepared
caregivers can help prevent suicide.
Check the On-site
Workshop Calendar for ASIST dates and
to register.
2. safeTALK: Suicide alertness for community members
safeTALK is a new 3-hour suicide alertness
program that teaches community members to recognize persons
with thoughts of suicide and to connect them to suicide intervention
resources.
Opportunities to help a person with thoughts of suicide are
sometimes missed, dismissed and avoided. Participants learn
the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe) and can activate
the suicide alert.
Check the On-site
Workshop Calendar for safeTALK dates
and to register.
3. suicideTALK: An exploration in suicide awareness
suicideTALK is a new 2-hour exploration
in suicide awareness. Organized around the question: "Should
we talk about suicide?" it provides a structure in which
session members can safely explore some of the most challenging
attitudinal issues about suicide and encourages every member
to find a part that they can play in preventing suicide
